Everything we saw at Pine Knob’s 50th anniversary kickoff

One thing for sure, two things for certain, metro Detroiters are happy that Pine Knob is back.

In January, it was announced that after 20 years, DTE Energy Music Theatre would go back to its original name, Pine Knob Music Theatre, which many of us never stopped calling it that anyway.

The change came just ahead of the amphitheater's 50th anniversary. On Friday morning, 313Presents hosted a press event to formally announce the start of Pine Knob's 2022 and 50th anniversary season. The event included comments by 313Presents President Howard Handler, as well as remarks by the theater's sponsors, United Wholesale Mortgage, Trinity Health, and Ally.

"2022 will be an epic summer concert season highlighted by the return of Pine Knob Music Theatre and its 50th anniversary as well as a record-setting five stadium shows at Comerica Park," said the president of 313 Presents, Howard Handler,  in a press release. "We're extremely grateful to our Proud Partners United Wholesale Mortgage, Trinity Health and Ally for helping us to deliver Pine Knob back to the community. We'd also like to thank our friends at Live Nation for their continued support and access to the summer's biggest touring acts. We're excited to bring friends and families together all summer long to make memories for many years to come at all our venues including Little Caesars Arena, the Fox Theatre, Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre and Meadow Brook as well."

The event concluded with a walkthrough of the venue which now carries the very familiar Pine Knob logos throughout.
