Last month, Michigan's Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs flagged Kalamazoo's Compassionate Care by Design and Detroit's Green Mile for products that failed to meet stringent testing criteria. Ypsilanti's The Patient Station is the latest provisioning center to have dispensed tainted medicine, according to a public health and safety advisory issued by LARA Friday morning.
The warning impacts consumers who may have purchased any of the 13 strains that failed laboratory testing from Ypsilanti provisioning center, The Patient Station, between Nov. 14, 2018, and Jan. 22.
The affected marijuana strains include ATF, Chiquita Banana, Flo, Gas Monkey, Gorilla Grip, Kimbo Kush, Querkle, Sunset Bubba Kush, Sunset Sherbet, and Wonderdog all of which tested for chemical residue and/or moisture content. The Patient Station's Afghan Kush tested for cadmium (a naturally occurring toxic heavy metal), and strains Black Sugar Rose and Green Crack tested positive for arsenic.
LARA suggests that any patient or caregivers who may have received the tainted products should return them to The Patient Station so that they may be properly disposed of and not re-dispensed or mistakenly consumed. Consumers can refer to specific batch numbers found affixed to the medical containers if they suspect they have purchased tainted products.
