Amid the ruins of the long-abandoned Packard Plant in Detroit, a new cannabis dispensary and grow facility have set up shop, boasting some of the lowest prices for deli flower in Michigan.
Vive Cannabis Co. held its grand opening in October in an attractive new building at 1601 E. Grand Blvd. Next door is a large grow facility that churns out pungent, trichome-coated buds under the company brand, “Detroit Flower Grow.”
Vive Cannabis offers hundreds of products, from concentrates and edibles to vape cartridges and fresh flower.
The dispensary’s main attraction is the deli, where more than 50 flower strains are available, including the company’s own harvests. All deli flower is 50% off, making it more inexpensive than any other dispensary in the area. Prices range from $2.50 a gram to $10 a gram.
“I have the best product in town at the best prices,” Salam Kalasho tells Metro Times. “These are good quality with great prices.”
Some of the highlights include Grown Rogue’s Pink Lady, Blue Runtz, and Sherb Cream Pie.
Another standout is the dispensary’s own brand, Detroit Flower Grow. The newest offerings include Super Runtz (Super Lemon Cherry Gelato x Runtz), Fire As Fuck (Gelato 45 x Jet Fuel Gelato), and Blue Gushers (Triangle Kush x Gelato 41).
All three are grown well and cured. The Super Runtz is coated in trichomes and smells sweet, fruity, and citrusy. The high is relaxed and euphoric.
Fire As Fuck is sweet, spicy, and fruity, with a gassy fueled pungency. The high elevates your mood and creates a full body buzz.
Blue Gushers is creamy and fruity, with a piney, sour, and skunky taste. It produces a great body buzz that is good for relaxing.
All three are hybrids and run between $17.50 to $22.50 for an eighth.
Kalasho keeps the prices low by deciding not to advertise with Weedmaps, which can run $10,000 a month. The hope is that people will find the dispensary by word of mouth.
Kalasho built new buildings for the dispensary and grow facility.
The dispensary is clean, orderly, and friendly. Budtenders are knowledgeable and helpful.
Next door, the grow facility is churning out new strains. Once the weed is harvested, it’s hung up to dry and then is slowly cured to bring out the taste and aromas.
“We don’t take any shortcuts,” he says. “We’re doing it right.”
Kalasho hopes to soon begin growing 21 different strains, and he’s not worried about anyone beating him on price.
“We can match and beat any price in town,” Kalasho says.
