Kai Alcé: Hip-hop and trap music still dominate Atlanta music culture, but thanks to the tireless efforts and sensuous house productions emanating from producer and DJ Kai Alcé, he's putting Dogwood City on the map for dance music now. He brings Detroit and New York City luminaries to town and his NDATL label puts out some of the sweatiest tracks. Their annual NDATL special edition 12-inch for Movement always packs some serious heat, and Alcé's set will do the same. (Courtesy photo.)

7/6 - Pewter Cub "Citing influences of everything from the Talking Heads to cabbage, this Detroit band is quite a mouthful. The songs are a well blended mix of psychedelic with a hint of trance, glazed over with a pop sensibility—all of which makes the band wonderfully unique, yet not to eccentric that it cannot be added to your upcoming summer party playlist" - Rachel Rosenson @InYourSpeakers Media

TAURUS (April 21 -May 20): After more stress than anyone needs, you’re coming out on the other side of a difficult time. If you keep waiting for the other shoe to drop it’s because there are a million reasons to think that it will. You’ve got about six more months to wade through what’s left of all of this. With a few more tests on the road ahead, the best you can do is rely upon the ethics that got you this far. It could be looking like Hell before you find out why you had to go there. As you move through this, hold fast to the truth. It’s all you have to go on and it’s the only thing that matters at a time like this.

Old Miami 3930 Cass, Detroit; 313-831-3830 Feeling nostalgic for the days of drinking beer in your buddy’s basement or raising a glass around the fire at a backyard blowout? Head to the Old Miami, where the outdoor space feels like the backyard of a really rockin’ neighbor. Just don’t go looking for creative cuisine or craft brews. The Old Miami is strictly old-school, right down to the cans of beer. (Photo via IG user @mrpartypat)

TAURUS (April 21 -May 20): So much is coming to a head. If it feels overwhelming, the deeper part of you has been through enough to know that you can handle this. For more than one reason, it might be best to let others figure out how to cover their own issues. You can’t be there for them every minute. The work situation is fraught with all kinds of politics. You keep wondering if it’s your job to keep making other people rich. If you’re too afraid to strike out on your own, you might want to realize that choices that are based on fear get us nowhere. Change is in the wind. It can only get better from here.

TAURUS (April 21 -May 20): Questions that keep begging you to wonder if it’s time to pick up and leave need to be met with a measure of restraint. It will be at least a week before you can see the forest for the trees. In the meantime, let people show you what they’re made of and be mindful of what that says about them. Gossip is running all over the place. By the time it gets back to you, it’ll be too many removes from the truth to get upset about. The last thing you need is to let yourself be distracted by lesser mortals — especially now, when your truer calling is waking up the wish to make a difference.

Horoscopes (April 26-May 2)

TAURUS (April 21 -May 20): The emotional piece is in high gear. This is feeling good or bad, depending which end of the stick you are on. Others have their own fish to fry. If this comes as a surprise, you should have known that they weren’t here for the duration. Look into your past for the answers. On a plain and simple level, you invested too much in what you thought was going on. You thought you had something, and it fell through: Welcome to the human race. For others, the story is totally different. As far as you are concerned things are on an upswing, and you are ready for anything.

Horoscopes (April 19-25)

by Cal Garrison

By Metro Times editorial staff

ARIES (March 21- April 20): Things change so fast every time you turn around, something else pops up to keep you spinning. The dizzying effects of too much random interference has many of you wondering why life doesn’t want to settle down. Others have been off the charts with their issues and demands. It’s gotten to the point where you can’t make a move without someone cutting you off, or calling you on things that clip your wings. With Mars, your ruling planet, opposing all of your interests, the frustration piece can only be handled by being wise enough to consider the uses of adversity.
