A 24-year-old woman who was riding her bike while the sun was still up in Detroit Saturday tells police she was plucked off the street and thrown into a van where she was robbed and sexually assaulted by two men inside.
A Detroit police spokesman says it happened at 6:20 p.m. in the area of Orleans Street and East Milwaukee Avenue, near the Russell Industrial Center and the Milwaukee Park Lofts.
The woman was eventually let free, and she returned to the location where she was first picked up to call for help, police say.
Police describe the suspects as black men in their 30s. Both had shaved heads and one had scars on his body. They were in a white van.
Wayne State Police responded to the scene. The Detroit Police Department's sex crimes unit has since picked up the case.
Detroit police said they could not confirm a report that the woman was raped.
