Oh, what a year it’s been. A country invaded, a despot deposed, and a grateful population that has responded by killing several members of America’s occupying force each week.
The Bush administration may want us to believe that it’s all over over there in Iraq, but we all know the truth. Which is why rallies will be staged worldwide on March 20, the day in 2003 that the United States began bombing Baghdad — again.
Locally, the Ann Arbor Area Committee for Peace will hold a daylong series of events. The Raging Grannies will sing, and a children’s stroller brigade will take to the streets. Marches and rallies will continue throughout the afternoon, and the day will end with performances by poet John Sinclair and local rockers the Brakemen.

There will also be a demonstration at the State Capitol in Lansing. Anyone interested in attending that rally can catch a bus from Detroit for $13. Call 313-680-5508.
