We Read the News Today, Oh Boy: The NYT website considers the near-downtown neighborhood of Lafayette Park, specifically the Mies van der Rohe townhouses. Well, to take it a bit further, the piece not only focuses on the townhouses, but the creators (it's an extensive words, picture and sound package) seem to think that the term "Lafayette Park" refers only to the townhouses. Which will be news to lots of other folks in the area who thought they also lived in Lafayette Park, including in the four Mies van der Rohe high-rises. We haven't had a chance to work through the whole package (did we say it's extensive?), but it looks like it will be well worth the time. And another one of those much-needed corrective pieces to the Detroit-is-all-devastation meme.
