Walking down the streets of Greektown the other day, Metro Times managing editor W. Kim Heron spied Wayne County Prosecutor Mike Duggan. Always eager to press the flesh, Heron made a quick reintroduction. “Where are you working now?” asked Duggan. Heron pointed to Metro Times’s world headquarters across from the Greektown Casino, and remarked that Mike — who had seemed the eternal assistant to Wayne County Exec Ed McNamara — had also experienced a job change since the two last crossed paths. Mike then noted that he had to get to a “going away party for my boss.” And as Heron continued on his way, he thought a) it’s surely a force of habit, but countered b) it’s still creepy that Duggan continues to refer to McNamara as his “boss,” and worried c) whether that allegiance continues after Ed steps down at the end of his term.
