Thanksgiving is about food, family, and, yes, killer hangovers. But don't become some selfishly tragic statistic by driving your own drunk ass home after drinking one too many cold ones with the boys this Thanksgiving Eve. Not cool.
Returning this year to save the day — and to save you some cash — is the David Christensen Law Firm and their annual 'Safe Ride Home Program.' Each drunken holiday since 2015, the Michigan-based personal injury firm offers reimbursement for anyone in metro Detroit who dropped cash on a Lyft, Uber, or taxi to get home safely.
How does it work?
You have to be at least 21-years-old, and your one-way ride home is limited to Macomb, Wayne, Washtenaw, Oakland, Bay, Kent, or Genesee counties. When you order your rideshare or hail your cab, make sure you snag a receipt. The following day, just email (or snail mail), a copy of the receipt along with a copy of your driver's license to [email protected] and they will cover your ride up to $35.
Oh, the offer is good from 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21 until 4 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 22 and the latest you can send your request for reimbursement is midnight on Sunday, Nov. 25.
