The latest reported sexual harassment incident to make headlines locally is so revolting it elicited this reaction from a seasoned newswoman:
According to the report, employees were told a 56-year-old man was "going after young women" in the pool area while fondling himself. The TV station managed to get in touch with an alleged victim, who said another woman in the hot tub tried to come to her rescue by sitting in between the pair. When the man wouldn't stop groping himself, the woman recruited two male gym goers to help, but still the man was undeterred.
"His response was almost as in to say you know, you guys, you're not gonna stop me, this is a free space what are you going to do about it," one of the men told WJBK.
"He was using her as a visual to get off," the man said.
Eventually, Canton police say were called and ticketed the 56-year-old for misdemeanor indecent conduct. As of Monday, the man had not yet been arraigned and he was not being identified.
It’s at least the second sexual harassment incident involving women at that Lifetime Fitness location. A little over a year ago, local media reported that a man was alleged to have groped two separate women just outside the fitness center.
