Think Detroit is looking for volunteers to help coach and manage Little League games for young Detroiters. The group seeks to build character in young people through sports and leadership development, and organizes baseball, basketball, flag football and volleyball games for city youth to achieve that end. You don't have to be the next Ben Wallace — they'll provide sports-specific training — but you do have to work well with children. Everyone talks about Detroit's transit issue, but here's a chance to do something about it. Attendees of the annual meeting of Transportation Riders United will be invited to become actively involved in the group's upcoming projects. Of course, it wouldn't be an annual meeting without at least a little bit of talk: DARTA senior administrator Wendy Barrett, University of Michigan professor of urban planning Joe Granges and various members of local governments will deliver presentations on the possible benefits of an Ann Arbor-Detroit transit project. No registration required. 6:30 p.m. Jan. 24. Guardian Building, 500 Griswold St., Detroit. Call 313-963-8872 or visit detroittransit.org for more details.

Representative John Conyers Jr. can't enjoy a town hall meeting without the townspeople. So do a favor for him and yourself by attending this get-together where the distinguished congressman will be the featured speaker. The Censure of Bush & Cheney is the topic for this meeting, which is sponsored by the Detroit Area Peace with Justice Network. 9:30 a.m., Jan. 28. Barth Hall in the Cathedral Church of St. Paul, 4800 Woodward Ave. at Warren Avenue, Detroit. Call 313-833-7547 for more information.
