Point and dream — Want to live in a more harmonious world? Then check out the premiere of My Brother’s Dream: An American Experience, an independent film shot mostly at Oakland Community College’s Orchard Ridge Campus in Farmington Hills.
The project, conceived and produced by college student Michael Ray, involves 19 participants, from different ethnic and religious backgrounds, who were given disposable cameras and asked to click away.
Through their lenses, the participants’ frustrations, angers and hopes emerge via the images and dialogue captured in the film. The film is an “updated variant of Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream,” says Ray. “It challenges all of us to consider each other as brothers and sisters and examine our prejudices from often unheard viewpoints.”
The Orchard Ridge Campus is located at 27055 Orchard Lake Rd., just north of I-696. Free parking is available on campus lots. The 50-minute film will be screened in the campus’ Smith Theater at 7 p.m., Friday, July 15. Admission is free and open to the public. Contact Ray at 248-790-8822.

But you’d be wrong. Which is why Proactive is recommending attendance at a community forum featuring the retired lieutenant colonel and his take on nuclear weapons. The guy has a slew of credentials and awards on his résumé, and we’ve dealt with him before. He knows his stuff.
