Employees of Ann Arbor's Performance Network Theatre were thrown into a different kind of drama last month when the theater unexpectedly closed in the middle of a run of Richard III. Today, the theater's Board of Directors announced that they voted to support a new production model and management structure under newly installed John Manfredi.
Manfredi, a longtime producer and actor, is owner of Etico Productions LLC, a Michigan theatrical company that has partnered with Olympia, the Palace, Michigan State University, and others. His resume also includes time spent as the Education Coordinator of the Creative Arts Center of North Oakland County and Managing Director of the Jewish Ensemble Theatre and the Theatre ENsemble at Meadow Brook Theatre. Actor, director, sound designer, and writer Suzi Regan will serve as Associate Director.
The Performance Network has not issued refunds to subscribers or ticket holders, but have noted generous offers from the Tipping Point Theatre, Two Muses Theatre, and Michigan Shakespeare Festival to honor Performance Network tickets.
No timetable has been announced as far as implementing the new management, but the Performance Network issued a press release stating more announcements are forthcoming.
