On Thursday, the N'Namdi Center for Contemporary Art will host its second panel in a series on "psychological gentrification" — a term coined by gallery founder George N'Namdi to describe how longtime Detroit residents can be pushed out of new developments without being physically uprooted.
"Gentrification and Business" will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 19 at the gallery. Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Stephen Henderson will serve as moderator — panelists include Chris Jackson of Greektown Casino, Lauren Hood of Deep Dive Detroit, and Detroit Mayor Ken Cockrel Jr., executive director of Detroit Future City Implementation Office.
The first panel, "Gentrification and the Arts," drew a capacity crowd.
