Detroit-born and -raised emcee Miz Korona (aka Paula Smiley) has worked with lots of heavy talent in the D — Invincible, Monica Blair, Trick Trick, DJ Young Mase and Slum Village's Elzhi to name-drop a few. What's funny is, the aforementioned could all fit with ease, and throw a party, in her cozy new ride — a Chanel red, 2008 GMC Yukon Denali.
The Denali is ridiculously tricked-out — we're talking leather interior, heated seats, sun roof, TV, XM satellite radio, GPS and 20-inch wheels. Sheesh. What, is this her mini-tour couch? Korona could easily tour in her new ride, though she wouldn't mind a slight upgrade — "I like riding high; once I get some 22s on there I'll really be rolling," she says without irony.
And the touring starts in June when her new self-released album, The Wait, hits the streets. The long-awaited work, produced by Marvwon of Fat Killahz, features Detroit hip-hop star guests including Black Milk and Guilty Simpson.
Till then Korona will roll high over the low streets of Canton in her sparkly Denali. "Nobody does it big in Canton," Korona tells us. "I need to move back to Detroit and get some excitement back in my life. It's boring out here."
