On Jan. 2, the Michigan State Police tweeted out a warning to drivers on Southfield Freeway. Urged by complaints about speeding on the freeway, they cautioned freeway users that police would be pulling over drivers at an increased rate.
MSP has been chronicling their stops via Twitter. Drivers were pulled over for "minor infractions" like no seat belts or texting and driving.

Allen Park police also joined forces on Southfield Freeway to monitor drivers.

The MSP tweeted their progress on the crackdown on Wednesday, Jan. 3, saying, "We stopped 47 cars on the Southfield Freeway today. A few for speed, a few more for distracted driving, even more for tailgating and multiple lanes changes. Even stopped one for no brake lights."

The MSP also is providing some tips for drivers in this cold weather on their Twitter account.
