Metro Times interim editor (and Cleveland Scene editor) Vince Grzegorek was on WDET's Craig Fahle Show Wednesday to discuss new ownership and direction. Grzegorek says he plans to commute to Detroit for two to three months to help hire new staff, move the office back to Detroit and restore investigative journalism to the paper.

"It's been something that had been missing from the paper, at least in the last year" Grzegorek says. "You pick it up, and that good stuff — the stuff that the daily paper would open and say, "How did we miss that?" — that sort of enterprise investigative journalism wasn't there anymore and Curt [Guyette's] departure was a large loss."

Regarding new hires:

We walked into the room and we said were gonna staff you guys up and give you the bodies and the ability you need to do your jobs and we delivered within two weeks. We have Ryan Felton, who came from The Oakland Press, a former Metro Times intern who is two days into the job, so there's already someone new in the room that does that kind of investigative journalism [...] You can also write with a voice that the daily papers can't write with and the sort of language and opinions that you can voice in an alt-weekly paper — backed up with all that fantastic reporting is what we need to get back to — and Ryan's the sort of guy who can do that.
