Read us backward then?

Call me self-interested, but I gotta wonder why the Letters section is shoved to the back-page vice district of the "new" Metro Times — underneath "Wall Scrawls," no less. Why do we still have newspapers if not to provide some kind of alternative to the viciousness that passes for public debate in online comment threads? In other words, if "Weekend" were my first priority, what's to stop me from picking up a copy of Real Detroit? —Joel Batterman, Ann Arbor

P.S. — Thanks for removing the extra "D" from the "Politics and Prejudices" page. There's probably a cosmic joke there, but I'd have to think about it some more.

Erratum:

In Jack Lessenberry’s column “What it all meant” (Nov. 14), Jack Lessenberry incorrectly identified the openly gay woman Wisconsin elected to the U.S. Senate. The winner’s name is Tammy Baldwin.
