It's election season, meaning Kid Rock has yet another opportunity to be a jackass

On Friday, just after lunch, we arrived back at our desk to discover an email from none other than Kid Rock.

The subject line: 😭 John will make D.C. liberals cry 😭

The message was an endorsement for John James, a Republican running against U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), who has held the seat since 2001. Kid Rock first formally endorsed James at a rally in Novi last month.

As you may recall, Kid Rock fronted like he would run for that seat last year in an apparent publicity stunt. The email we never asked for opens with a recap of that saga. Kid Rock says getting "left-wing journalists in tizzy ... was pretty fun."

I sure never thought I’d be writing to you like this.

Last year, I thought about running for Senate. I started talking about it in public, on Twitter, everywhere.

The media ate it up! I got those left-wing journalists in a tizzy — it was pretty fun. But at the end of the day, I wanted to keep making music for the people. Those D.C. types on the Hill wouldn’t have been able to handle me anyway.

(Can we get an amen for having to only endure Kid Rock's music rather than his thoughts on good governance?)

Kid Rock goes on to describe James as a God-lovin' conservative outsider "just like me."

"Last but certainly not least," he writes. "I know John has what it takes to beat left-wing Debbie Stabenow in November."
