You can celebrate the Fourth of July at any of these dazzling firework displays in the metro Detroit area. Most of the events are free, and include parades and activities throughout the day. So don’t just settle for snakes and sparkler —, make sure to rally your friends and family to party like it’s 1776 (safely, of course).
Clawson 4th of July
Clawson Park will host a day full of events beginning at 9 a.m. including hot dog eating contests, monster truck rides, the Firecracker Mile run, rides, games, and crafts. Fireworks light up the sky at 10 p.m.
Flint Water Festival
The third annual Flint Water Festival will run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and end with a fireworks show once the sky goes dark. There will be water kit giveaways for kids, live music, and the Fitness Arts Tech Education panel and Water Works art program. Everything is free, including admission and food. Water donations will be accepted and Drippie the water mascot will be there to promote water health and safety tips.
Fowlerville Fireworks and Parade
Fowlerville Fairgrounds opens at 3 p.m. and will feature a car show, picnic and children’s games. Live entertainment begins at 7 p.m., and fireworks are at dusk. Suggested cost for admission is a $5 donation per car.
Gibraltar July 4th Festival
Greenfield Village: Salute to America
The Detroit Symphony Orchestra will dazzle with their rendition of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture as you gaze at colorful bursts of red, white, and blue. The United States Army Field Band and Soldiers’ Chorus will perform before the fireworks event. Ticket pricing and information can be found on the website.
Lapeer 4th of July Fireworks
The Lapeer Area Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the Fourth of July with fireworks at Rolland-Warner Middle School. The event is free, bring some blankets and chairs to enjoy the show.
Saginaw Area Fireworks
Fireworks will start at 10:15 p.m. Admission is free. There is parking available on Ojibway Island, but you must purchase a $20 parking pass to access the island. Otherwise, you can view the fireworks along the Saginaw River.
City of Saline Fireworks
At 10 p.m. Saline will celebrate the Fourth of July with a fireworks show at Crabtree Field. Admission is free and parking is available in adjacent school campus parking lots.
St. Clair Fireworks
Spread out a blanket and set up some chairs at Palmer Park to view the fireworks display over St. Clair River. Concessions will be available to purchase and several restaurants will also be open for the event.
Trenton Independence Day Fireworks
Head downriver and enjoy free fireworks at Rotary Park in Trenton.
