Yikes: These guys look like they’re half bug and half human … and in the new set of tarot cards written by Jessica Macbeth, slightly frightening faeries can make or break the future. But there might be one person you know (someone with an extensive collection of New Age music) who would adore a pack of fortunetelling gnats. The Faerie’s Oracle is a mystical magical package including a fortunetelling book, a full deck of oracle cards and lots of nonsense. While the drawings by illustrator Brian Froud are indeed lovingly detailed, the text accompanying the cutie-pie images is annoying as a mosquito that won’t quit. Author Jessica references personal conversations she’s experienced with her winged friends. But you will be thankful for the endless hours of soul edification. The Faerie’s Oracle is available at amazon.com for $20.
