Continuing from last week's incongruous comments, here are a few more we've found from letter writers, commenters, and posters throughout 2014:

FUCK YOU, MT, AND FUCK DETROIT

You want me to believe that it's in the surrounding municipalities' best interest to give money to Detroit after it has shown time and time and time again that it cannot manage itself?

I say, "Fuck you! The horse you rode in on and the bull who is slinging all that shit you seem to think is fresh air." Why the hell would I support someone who cannot support themselves and has repeatedly shown that they cannot? I'm supposed to believe that the city has turned over a new leaf?

READER LOVES DETROIT

For my mom (and surely countless other moms her age), 1967 was the turning point. After the riots, all things Detroit were dangerous, violent, and lawless. I believe she tried to pass this fear on to me and my siblings (it worked on them, to varying degrees), but I was too rebellious and reckless to listen.

So glad I didn't. Detroit is a wonder, and those who deserve her, receive her. Those who don't, don't. It's their loss.

MT FAR LEFT

The Metro Times used to be a decent rag, but has long since jumped the shark. It's now nothing more than a far-left propaganda mag filled with half-truths, outright lies and Hack Lessenberry's weekly anti-GOP rants.

Can you point out anything positive your rag has said about the GOP in the last year? Dan "Let's kill all the Republicans" Savage is the icing on the cake. In closing, go fuck yourselves, you liberal idiots.

MT IS SENSIBLE AND FAIR

Jack Lessenberry's column is one of the meatier ones in the magazine. I always want to catch his latest look at Detroit and its residents, and Michigan. The experts he contacts to back up his sensible and fair opinions are names I pay attention to. Usually the regular news and other newspapers take notice and begin to follow their activities. Thank you for digging beneath the surface and getting to the basics of a confusing world, city, neighborhood. A thousand articles is not enough. Keep getting them out there.

JACK LESSENBERRY'S UNFAIR NONSENSE

As a resident of Detroit, I certainly know how it feels to have your home unfairly portrayed in the media. That is why it surprised me to see a veteran Detroit journalist do the same type of thing to Vassar, which is the town where I grew up. Lessenberry could have, with just a little more effort, seen that the protesters did not represent the residents. He also could have discovered that Vassar is filled with many diverse, giving, and forward-thinking individuals. And he could have noted that Vassar — with its lack of the broken windows, graffiti, abandonment and neglect so easily found in Detroit — is certainly not shabby.

MT INVOLVED IN SEX TRAFFICKING

Hey MT, we used to sell black people in mainstream newspapers for slavery and Minstrel Show "entertainment," but we stopped doing that. Asking you to remove the ads selling women, because women are human beings, too, not livestock, is not unreasonable. This is basic Ethics 101 I learned in elementary school.

MT NOT INVOLVED IN SEX TRAFFICKING

I don't know why everyone thinks this is about sex trafficking; it isn't. It's about censorship. What's next? A crusade to get all "objectionable" reading materials put behind the counter at the library? I am a mother myself, but I am sick and tired of the attempts to make the entire world rated G.

MT SUCKS

This has been the worst year in your publication's history. I really hope you guys get it together, because you're capable of so much more. — mt
