Aside from the usual orange construction barrels of summer, scaffoldings and cranes seem to be popping up all over lately. And adding some creative and green oompf to the development explosion otherwise known as downtown Detroit, the Hudson’s Project Imagine ART PARK will have its grand opening at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 14, as part of the 14th Annual Detroit Festival of the Arts. This permanent site installation of decorative plants and sculpture (the latter a commission by Detroit artist Lois Teicher) will grace the corner adjacent to the Scarab Club (John R and Farnsworth in the Cultural Center). Also part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony will be a performance by the Detroit Dance Collective. A portent of more gardens to come?
