Puppies are the new kids. They even go to daycare.
Ferndale's Canine to Five is a doggy daycare that offers services like grooming and boarding to dog moms and dads around the metro area. The business model is so successful owner Liz Blondy has expanded her concept to three locations, which include spots in Midtown and New Center.
Blondy's Ferndale spot is celebrating five years in business and to honor this momentous occasion, she's hosting an enormous indoor doggy playdate that will surely be brimming with cuteness.

“It’s hard to believe how fast the past five years have gone," Blondy said in a press release. "This party is our small way of thanking the Ferndale community for their warmth and friendliness."
The indoor playdate will take place on Sunday, Jan. 28 from noon until 2 p.m. and welcomes all dogs with proof of vaccination. Any dogs older than nine months need to be spayed or neutered.
There will be a birthday cake to celebrate the anniversary, along with games, prizes, and a photo booth for dogs and their owners. A separate play area for smaller dogs will be available as well.
“It’s so great to watch them all play together. With the cold weather, so many dogs are cooped up a lot of the time, and they really enjoy being able to let off some steam in a safe environment like Canine To Five Ferndale,” Blondy said.
A mandatory $5 donation will go to Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit, a nonprofit animal shelter. Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit is working on constructing a new Animal Adoption Center & Education Center by Fall 2018 in Dearborn.
