Detroit singer Rico Lavelle takes a knee during national anthem during Lions game

It looks like the singers of the national anthem are standing (or in this case, kneeling) with NFL players who are protesting during the national anthem at football games.

Local singer Rico Lavelle sang the national anthem on Sunday's Lions game against the Atlanta Falcons. At the end of the last song, Lavelle took a knee on the word "brave," joining other players who were taking a knee. You can watch a clip of the performance below.

President Donald Trump's comments about athletes taking a knee during the national anthem as a form of protest sparked outrage as many saw it as him telling private citizens that they shouldn't use their first amendment rights. Trump wants NFL owners to fire players who decide to take a knee.

Detroit Lions owner Martha Ford released a statement this morning denouncing Trump's comments.
