Stacy Fox, deputy emergency manager of Detroit, will step down from her position Oct 1. to take a job with chemical giant DuPont.
Fox, who was appointed Detroit Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr's deputy last October, was announced as the company's new senior vice president and general counsel Tuesday.
"Stacy comes to use as a proven leader with exceptional experience as a lawyer and business executive," Ellen Kullman, DuPont chair and chief executive officer, said in a statement Tuesday. "She will play an important role in supporting DuPont's growth, and I am pleased to welcome her to the company."
Fox, 60, cofounded Detroit-based real estate firm Roxbury Group and served on the board of a nonprofit linked to the highly publicized exit of former Detroit Metro Airport chief executive officer Turkia Mullin. Under her contract with the city, she made $175,000 a year with no health care or retirement benefits.
Bill Nowling, spokesman for the emergency manager, confirmed the move Thursday, saying her duties with the city will remain the same until she steps down.
"She will continue in them until she leaves for her new position on Oct. 1," Nowling said in an email.
Fox, who also serves on the executive committee of the Downtown Detroit Partnership, led negotiations for the city with Ilitch Holdings Inc., owner of the Detroit Red Wings, on a new lease for Joe Louis Arena.
