Bad-ass beanbags

Scary Stories dolls, a line of small stuffed animals, have got to be good because they’re the antithesis of Beanie Babies. Wendy Gardener’s abstract critter creations look like peculiar blobs of fleece, adorned with subtle yet off-putting facial expressions. They also have troubling names such as “Katie Come Here” and “Handsome Hook Lost A Foot.” At first these toys don’t seem all that eccentric, until you find out their names. Otherwise, they’re just a little odd looking. Draw a face on a pillow and give it a weird name for the same effect. The lot of ’em are available at www.totemdesign.com for $30 each.
