The Detroit Zoo's newborn chimp, Jane.

Perfect timing.

This baby chimp entered the world just after midnight at the Detroit Zoo on Saturday, the first-ever World Chimpanzee day.

According to the Detroit Zoo, the day marks the occasion of English primatologist and anthropologist Dr. Jane Goodall's first trip, in 1960, to a national park in Tanzania to study the social interactions of wild chimpanzees.

Fittingly, zoo staff named the newborn chimp Jane. They say the public will likely be able to get its first glimpse of her in a couple of weeks.
