If your New Year’s resolution is to rediscover your artistic side, you’re in luck. Starting in 2005, the Waterford Cultural Council will be offering a series of art and creative writing classes.

An eight-week watercolor class begins Jan. 11, meeting 7-9 p.m. every Tuesday and taught by art instructor Dawn Eggenberger. After completion of the course, student work will be showcased in an exhibit at the Waterford Cultural Council Gallery. Cost is $80.

Lifestories, an eight-week memoir writing class, begins Jan. 12, meeting 7-9 p.m. every Wednesday. The class is taught by journalist and author Carolyn Walker, and focuses on the creative nonfiction writing of the memoir genre. Cost is $100.

A ten-week singing class for youths from 7 to 17 will begin Jan. 14, meeting 6-7 p.m. every Thursday, taught by vocal coach TaChuna Banks. The course will be capped with a performance recital. Cost is $100.

All classes are held at the Cultural Council’s offices, 5869 Andersonville Rd., Waterford. To register for any class, call 248-623-9389.

Bored to tears during this slow holiday week? Do something culturally constructive and venture over to another country for some great art.
