Give art, not junk — that’s the advice Detroit Artists Market is doling out this holiday season. The gallery’s annual Holiday Show is a calm, unique and refreshing alternative to the frenzied chaos and meaningless carbon-copy trinkets offered by the dreaded malls. More than 40 local artists have their wares on sale, including jewelry, paintings, pottery, furniture, clothing and more. You’ll be able to give your loved one a gift that’s unique and support the Detroit arts community, instead of the greedy cult of commercialism. The sale runs until Dec. 23. John Fitzpatrick’s Holiday Glass Show at the Touch of Light studio and gallery, featuring more than 100 hand-blown glass ornaments, as well as perfume bottles, vases, bowls and oil lamps.
