At the other end of the environmental spectrum is transit activist Karen Kendrick-Hands, who is determined to see that southeast Michigan one day has a decent public transportation system. To this end, she is encouraging everyone to school themselves on an insanely expensive plan to add about a zillion lanes to a stretch of I-94. Public hearings will be held in Detroit March 5 at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, 315 E. Warren, and March 6 at Kettering High School, 6101 Van Dyke.
