How's your Thursday going? Good? Great. Well, we would like to ruin that for you with two words that should never appear together ever — Anal. Worms.
Actress Kristen Bell shared her harrowing, er, itchy tale about contracting anal worms from her 3-year-old daughter Delta during an appearance on The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale.
The Huntington Woods native and mother of two said that her daughter's preschool reported a case of pinworms. Bell contracted the worms herself and described the infection as "very itchy."
"You have to monitor it," she says. "And you have to look in their poop and when you wipe their butt, sure enough when I wiped I saw a little white worm."
According to the Center for Disease Control, pinworms can be contracted if eggs are swallowed or inhaled (omg gross) and can be spread by the fecal-oral route, either directly or indirectly through contaminated clothing, bedding, food, or other infected articles. Infections are easily treatable.
Thanks, Kristen.
Now, please, everyone go wash your damn hands.
