A banner hanging from a light post in front of this shell reads, "Isaiah 60:1 Arise, shine." It's a shiner all right, especially when it burned. Twice.

Located on the corner of Livernois and Morton, a neighborhood whose sidewalks are adorned with syringes and prostitutes, this house fits right in. Malignant stares and the eerie creaking of almost-fallen vinyl siding swaying in the wind greeted the Abandoned Shelter Squad (ASS).

This abode was intact until vandals burned the neighboring house to the ground. The flames spread and burned the exterior. Three weeks later, vandals broke into this house and burned it from the inside out. It's now gutted. Its owner, Lela Bass of Redford, could not be reached for comment.
