We received a tip from Third Man's Ben Blackwell that a very interesting MC5 poster is for sale on eBay this week. The poster, for a show up at Cranbrook on April 28, 1967, looks amazing — Charles Moore, Joseph Jarman, and the MC5. The way that so many of the best rock shows back then took place with the best free jazz of the era is astonishing. It isn't cheap, but decent rock memorabilia rarely is.
The image is not a psychedelic masterpiece in terms of design and typography — weirdly, it reminds me of the early to mid 1990s when everyone's computers had "copper gothic" and various art deco fonts on them and so they made fake tasteful flyers. Anyway, we've never seen this poster before; have you? See a sound! Taste a smell. Trans love energies were abounding there, obviously.
