With more than four years at the helm, he's finally achieving a Lager-goal he's been working toward / hoping-for:
booking the exuberant / eminent Zydeco roots rocker Terrance Simien.
Next week (Friday, 7/27), the conical-hatted embodiment of a grinning, unhinged boogie, Mr. Simien, an 8th generation Creole whose family was among the earliest to settle in Louisiana, will bring his rollicking accordion and honeyed/booming, French-accented vocals into the Lager House, backed by the eclectic instrumentation (complete with rubboard percussion, i.e. "washboard" or, properly, frottoir), fired up by soulful electric bass, sun-singed guitar and vigorous/relentless percussion.
Simien and the Zydeco Experience are a Grammy-award winning ensemble (2007's Live World Wide) with an accomplished career spanning more than forty countries visited through various tours that have notched them thousands upon thousands of live performances as well as having their music featured in a number of major motion pictures.
The object is to dance. That's actually the translation of the African word: "Zydeco."
