Girls Rock Detroit summer camp will be returning for the second year and it will be two weeks instead of one. Yay! It was so successful in 2015 that the organizers decided to add an extra week. It will now be from July 11-16 at Detroit Institute of Music Education, and Aug. 8-13 at Wayne State University.
The camp teaches female students the fundaments of playing music in a rock band. This year, there will be 60 campers, outpacing 2015's 26 campers. This is due to the University of Michigan's School of Music awarding the camp with a $10,000 EXCEL prize. The prize recognizes excellence in entrepreneurship, leadership and social impact.

The price to attend the camp is $200, but don't worry, depending on your household income, fees for students are on a sliding scale between $0-$200.
To apply, visit www.girlsrockdetroit.org or you can pick up a paper application at the Detroit Public Library.
