Castro’s Advanced Placement album is filled with some hard lyrics and smooth beats. “I’ll be on that paper-chase, pussy N*****s can’t relate, fucking let those n*****s hate, everyday,” he raps on “Everyday” Says it all, really.

8.bliss’ Freedom (beats: ep) is interesting stuff. The “Freedom Earth Bounce” track contains vocal samples from the old sci-fi horror movie They Live, which offers a good indication of the off-the-wall, zany nature of these hip-hop beats and loops.

Mod Orange’s Dusk is a strong, hugely catchy power-pop-punk record from a band that has forged a strong reputation over the four years of its existence. Heavy guitar hooks complement quirky, melodic vocals.

The Piece/Peace Keeper’s “Non Stop” is an instrumental hip-hop track that’s all heavy beats and vocal samples. You can imagine an MC using this to create something special, though it does work as a stand-alone track.

The Banshee Pilot’s “Tall Hot Blonde” is a very contemporary slice of post-hardcore from a local band with a big future. It’s a little identikit – soft verses lead to chugging riffs and big choruses. But you can imagine these guys on a Warped tour.

Pr. Deulineum’s “Praseodymium Deulineum II” is packed with psychedelic electronic music with a post-dubstep vibe. The pace picks up and then drops seemingly on a whim, and the helium vocal samples work perfectly.
