Ferndale’s own S.U.B. (Some Uncoordinated Bastards) will appear at the Loving Touch this evening for a pop punk extravaganza tonight alongside the Fiegers, Knifin’ Around, and Foreclosed Homes. The all ages show starts at 8 p.m. and has a cover of $5.
S.U.B consists of singer and guitarist Casey Schells, guitarist and back-up vocalist Brian Jones, bassist Matt Van Dien, and drummer John Allport. The band will enter the studio to record a new album next month.
Their appearance at the Loving Touch this evening comes hot off the release of their brand new music video for their song “Never Had a Chance.” The NSFW video also features a blow-up co-star, which the band picked up at Cirilla’s in Ferndale. From the band’s headquarters on W. Marshall, Brian explained to MT S.U.B’s creative decision-making and recruitment process.
“It was between the ‘milf’ model and the ‘alternative nurse’ model, and we felt like the alternative nurse had already been used a lot. So we went with the milf,” Jones explains.
Jones says that the doll’s packaging also featured some compelling ad copy.
“The box said ‘Now you can be a mother fucker.’ Or maybe ‘Fuck this mother.’ Something like that.” He says. “I don’t know who wrote it but…sold.”
