Where do you find Jill Scott, New Edition and Babyface all in one place — aside from your parents' CD collection or the Goodwill? At Joe Louis Arena this Saturday, Dec. 12, of course — it's the 92.3 WMXD Holiday Jam, and this is sure to be a holiday extravaganza not to be missed, fun for the whole entire family. Tickets are still available.
Launching in 2014 as a sold out show in Philadelphia, Holiday Jam has grown into a multi-city concert series with shows in Philadelphia, PA, Washington D.C., Hampton, VA and Detroit, MI. Recognizing the void of R&B driven multi-act performances across major markets, Maverick Management partner Shawn Gee conceptualized and created the platform, along with Geoff Gordon from Live Nation. The series was designed to elevate and celebrate the genre of R&B, highlighting some of the biggest names in R&B while introducing new and emerging talent.
Gee stated, “We noticed the success and phenomenal growth of multi-act radio concerts platforms over the last decade. The concept works so well in the pop and hip-hop genres; we are certain it will be successful in the R&B space as well. Gee says, “The vision is to continue to grow the platform, expanding to 12- 15 markets, creating a platform that showcases the R&B superstar, while at the same time gives much needed exposure to some of the emerging acts in the space.”
