Good news for those of you who missed the Rodriguez gig at the Park Bar late last month. The amazing legend-in-the-making (and if you haven't yet picked up his totally wonderful, recently rereleased -- on the Light In The Attic label -- 1970 album, Cold Fact, what the fuck are you waiting for?) folk-pop-rocker will be performing this Friday, October 10th on WDET's Detroit Today show. Even better news is that the lifelong Detroit resident, born Sixto Diaz Rodriguez, will be backed up by the same band of Motor City garage legends that made up his Park Bar band, including Outrageous Cherry's Matthew Smith, local production wizard Jim Diamond and Bobby Emmett and Dave Shettler, both of the Sights.
The performance takes place live at 11:30 a.m. You can listen to it on the radio or you can hear it by simply clicking here.
Speaking of WDET and Detroit Today, Amanda le Claire, the show's lovely producer, has been booking some excellent local music to appear on that show every Friday morning. During the past few months, Mick Bassett, Silverghost and Lightning Love are just a few of the D-Town powerhouses to appear live in the studio and on the air. Even better, there's frequently a video of the performance to be found on the WDET Website.
Cool....!
