If there's one thing that many of us who follow Detroit music can learn about branding from Quelle Chris, it's that well-produced low budget music videos work. The Detroit native has created a handful of videos this year to promote his music and new album, Shotgun and Sleek Rifle, which comes out tomorrow, and it's the odd minimalism of his videos that keeps people intrigued. That's not to say his music doesn't draw people in because it does but the fact that he raps, produces his own beats and then directs all of his music videos helps bring him more attention.

His latest release, "Another Blunt," is an ode to the sweat leaf and probably should have been covered in the Pot Issue that we ran two weeks ago. There's no hiding the fact that Quelle likes his grass, and it's actually his weeded out yet focused persona that gives him appeal. Trust, that's all been done before plenty times over but rarely do rappers have a knack for his type of beatmaking. "Another Blunt" without vocals sounds like it could be in a 70s Blaxploitation film.
