In advance of his full-band show at New Fortune Fest II this weekend, cult loner-folk dude Dave Bixby will do a solo set tomorrow at the wonderful, multi-purpose venue/ restaurant/ coffee shop/ gallery/ record store/ Detroit music museum Trinosophes, at about 1 p.m. I intend to skip out from work early, hit this up, and then head over to the Detroit Sound Conservancy event at the library. With any luck, I'll review both events here, too.

There just might possibly be copies at this show of the New Fortune label's lovingly remastered, brand brand new pressing of Bixby's infamous privately-pressed LP Ode to Quetzalcoatl. Original copies can top a couple grand, so it's quite a great service to have it properly reissued, with the artist's consent (and better sound than the European boot of a few years ago which itself fetches $50 regularly). It's possible Bixby might perform the entirety of his classic record from start to finish? I also could have misheard that part so don't sue me if he doesn't do that, thanks in advance.
