Preservationists of the Post-Everything Generation - young turk-type garage-sprung folk-singers Brandon Frye and Kyle McBee are keeping their dream alive: The Dead Letter Office cassette/CD label that showcases local songwriters whose works risked breezing off into the ether like dandelion seeds.
Their 2nd proper compilation of performances provides the fertile ground for these seeds to settle and bloom. Blooming into guttural, weedy ballads, intimate solo-performances with just a dude's voice and the haunting reverberations of these jangly punched acoustic guitars, crackling into the microphone from whence they captured it (a Ferndale-based makeshift studio), late into the weeknight, when they all could gather. Dead Letter Office hosts the March edition of Axis Mundi Night at the Berkley Front on March 28th (9pm)
"Volume 2" of the Nine Mile Sessions, recorded in January with Mike Anton, Ian James Pinchback, Jeff Jablonski, Greg Aubry, Michael Dragich and Kyle McBee, will be available at the door (with a $5 cover) -or, you could enter the concert free with 2 non-perishable (and un-expired) food items and/or enter free and get a CD-free with 4 food items - to be donated to Gleaners Community Food Bank.
All recorded artists on this compilation (who local music showgoers will either recognize from their solo sets or from their stints in other bands like: Black Lodge, Superbomb, Mantons, Factory Girls, Future Slang -and more) --will be on hand and likely getting up on stage to sing some songs.
