I've always been a huge fan of French website La Blogotheque and their ever-interesting Take Away shows. The concept is that they film a popular indie band performing an impromptu song in public in only one take for better or for worse. A certain amount of editing goes into it of course, but what's created usually is a rare piece of music art. Take Away shows in Paris from both !!! and Fleet Foxes are stellar examples.

With that said, the good folks over at Single Barrel Detroit have a similar mission and are masters at capturing some of the city's rising musicians performing in odd places. They recently convinced Detroit band Illy Mack to hit the People Mover for a live set and armed with only one camera and minimal instruments, the band's popular tune "Worms" doesn't turn out that bad. They probably could have performed an entire concert if the People Mover actually traveled across the city like a true form of light rail, but that's an entirely different conversation.

If you want to see an Illy Mack concert, they're actually performing tonight at Atlas Bar in Hamtramck around 9:30 p.m.
