No matter how long DJ House Shoes lives on the West Coast, he'll always be one of Detroit's own and a local in the eyes of many. He rides for Detroit hip-hop artists harder than anyone (save Hex Murda) and is constantly using his brazen 'tude and industry connects to shed more light on this fair city. Most folks just know Shoes online but plenty of us in Detroit seemingly see him in person all the time. He'll actually be back in the D next Tuesday, October 19, for one of his newest endeavors, Bowling Shoes, at the Garden Bowl.
The monthly party will take place every third Tuesday of the month and feature Shoes on the 1's and 2's while everybody else tries not to roll gutter balls. While you marinate on whether or not if you should be there next week, check out a recently released podcast posted above that Shoes did with the HVW8 art collective. It shows a lot more creativity and versatility than most folks are accustomed to and covers everything from Brazilian jams, soul, global beats, and of course, Detroit hip-hop.
