Movement is just days away and hordes of electronic music fans (and a number of curious voyeurs, to be fair) will be descending upon Detroit's Hart Plaza.
Our annual Movement issue hit stands today, and we included coverage on DJs, parties, and the secret techno museum, and that's really the important stuff. But, there are a few new amenities that Paxahau put in place this year that we thought you might also like to hear about — like a place to charge your phone.
This year festival organizers promise a technology area where fans can touch and play with equipment from brands like Allen & Heath, Roland, Serato, Elektron, Dubspot, and others. This foray into your deepest DJ fantasy can be found in the Hart Plaza underground, adjacent to the Movement Main Stage and the Underground Stage.
There will be on-site lockers and charging stations, which are available for one-day or three-day rental. Click here to rent a locker. For a locker with unlimited phone charging, it's $20 per day or $50 for the whole weekend.
Wheelhouse Detroit is also providing free bike valet and discounted rentals to Movement wristband holders.
There will also be more beer and food, including newcomers in the food division like Delectabowl, Rollin' Stone Pizza, and Mercurio's Chicken Truck. The Riverfront Biergarten will be outfitted with an art installation featuring a curated history of Detroit's electronic music scene.
