Check out the below video from veteran Detroit rock photographer and our old pal Thomas Weschler who takes the opportunity to explain how he broke into the game.
Weschler's part of the Detroit-based Backstage Gallery photography collective that'll have an exhibit at this weekend's Metro Music Expo, which takes place at the Rock Financial Showplace, 46100 Grand River, Novi. In addition to music biz (what "music biz"?) forums, panel discussions, equipment demos and live performances by numerous local musos (Caroline Striho will be closing tomorrow night's event at 7:30 p.m.), the show will feature the photographic work of such local lensmen (and lensgals) as Charlie Auringer, Larry Kaplan, Omar Newman, Shirley Mae Owens, Leni Sinclair, Weschler, Bob Whitall and a few more we're probably forgetting. Newman will also be displaying some long-lost classic Motown images he recently resurrected. I think I'm also supposed to be on some panel tomorrow...but don't have the details and who cares when you can see classic Detroit rock images and hear some great music instead?
Admission is $10 per day or $25 for all three days. Go here for a full schedule and all the info your little hearts could desire...
