Also, it didn't run in the paper version of this week's Ron Asheton tribute cover story... but since Tommy Ramone mentioned it in the piece as "a historic show," here's the Robert Matheu photo of (l-r) Tommy and Johnny Ramone, Fred "Sonic" Smith and the Asheton brother (Ron and Scott) at MC5/Destroy All Monsters bassist Michael Davis's Ann Arbor home at 3 a.m. in March 1977, following the Ramones/Sonic's Rendezvous Band/Destroy All Monsters concert at the Second Chance.
Also, we were sorry to hear yesterday that Indie 103.1 FM in L.A. went under...which means that Jonesy's Jukebox, the great rock 'n' roll show hosted by Sex Pistol Steve Jones no longer has a home. He really was the greatest current rock 'n' roll DJ in the world....but this means that he wasn't joking when he said he was available to play with the Stooges in our piece. Woulda been nice if he could've done it at this year's Rock AND Roll Hall of Fame induction, no? (Oh, wait, Steve was part of that group that told the Hall of Fame to go fuck themselves, as all bands should do from here on out... never mind...).
Finally, don't forget the Ron Asheton tribute show, hosted by Niagara and the Colonel, at the Music Hall downtown tomorrow night (Saturday, Jan. 17th). It's free but don't be a chump and donate something when you get there! Those who donate get a Ron Asheton commemorative button. We've heard rumors that the Gories may be reuniting to perform a song or two...but, hey, we can't verify it for sure...so you didn't hear it here...!!
