Grammy Award-winner, chart-topper, and survivor of the early-2000s flood of emotional pop songstresses, Michelle Branch has come a long way since The Spirit Room, the 2001 release that branded her as a standout. But it’s been a while. Earlier this year Branch released Hopeless Romantic — her first record in 14 years. Recorded with Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney (the two are now reportedly engaged), the record reveals a more vulnerable — though less hook-driven — Branch, who explores new singing styles and song structures beyond the turn-of-the-century pop mold. Brooklyn, New York-based indie pop band Haerts joins the bill.

Doors open at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12 at the Majestic Theatre; 4140 Woodward Ave., Detroit; 313-833-9700; majesticdetroit.com; Tickets are $25, $30 day of show.
