Calling all local thrash metal heads — Metallica is returning to Michigan.

The band announced the "World Wired Tour" today on Twitter. The 34-date tour is in support of their latest album Hardwired...To Self-Destruct and is planned for fall 2018 through March 2019.

The tour ends with a stop at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids on Wednesday, March 13. Pre-sale tickets for the Grand Rapids show will go on sale on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 11 a.m.

Metallica is no stranger to Detroit, having first performed in Michigan 33 years ago on Feb. 1, 1985 at Royal Oak Music Theater. In 2013, the band's traveling Orion Music Festival was held on Belle Isle.

Most recently, Metallica performed at Comerica Park in July 2017. They enjoyed this show so much they released a short video to thank Detroit for a great time — thanks Metallica!
